Dr. Dick Sander

Dr. Dick Sander has been a leader his entire life. From starting out as a Head Basketball Coach in Cincinnati to leading college athletic departments for over 25 years, “Doc”, as he is affectionately referred to, has demonstrated how thoughtful leadership can impact not only organizations, but the lives of the individuals within that organization and the constituents they serve.

Known for his ability to hire outstanding head coaches, develop nationally competitive programs and build state of the art facilities, Sander also built hugely successful academic and professional development programs including VCU Center for Sport Leadership, ETSU Global Sport Leadership Doctoral Program, Villa 7, and TopConnect.

Doc has always been a strategic thinker, a unifier and an architect of success. His passion to set up systems for the success for the organization and the people he leads is well documented and his initiatives continue to thrive today. He is passionate about giving back to a community that he has served for over 50 years with his part in From The Locker Room.
